Die iTunes! Die!

Haha! Steve Jobs, in your face! Finally, DRM-free legal music downloads - by Amazon. This is certainly better than waiting for someone to seed in Bittorrent downloads *cough* (fucking leechers!)… Can’t wait to buy old tracks - these things are so hard to find illegally.

I would have actually preferred getting my music from Amazon instead of downloading them illegally. The record industry should have thought of this years ago. Imagine 2000+ legal DRM-free mp3s? Universal and EMI could have already profited millions.

i just realized how much i love Pearl Jam

let me spare you a couple of minutes. right now, i am doing unit testing on the API’s. it is probably the most boring part of my job. coupled with angry users in my Yahoo Messenger buddy list, makes this day a living hell (now that reminds me of another song.. hehe..).

k, back to PJ… i was listening to some techno-shit from Digitally Imported. they have some pretty nice beats and tunes but listening to them for the last 5 hours and the hostile occupants of….. forgive me, i was just interrupted by someone…. sadsaddfs…sdf sadfsdf ….. what i was about to say was the hostile occupants of yahoo messenger. they are there, occupying a couple of lines in my yahoo messenger window - hostile, passive and unwilling to make peace. both made me want to kill myself… but then i decided to load my Pearl Jam playlist and then suddenly i wanted to live forever listening to their Ten album. it is probably the best album ever made. i mean literally. The best. The best of all time. The best of all the genres… Evenflow, Alive, Why Go, Black, Jeremy, Oceans, Porch, Garden, Deep… it makes your blood boil and delete all of your friends in Yahoo messenger - but i rather not. its hard enough to make friends as close as them… again, it is a matter of mind winning over emotions or whatever it is that bothers you and makes your chest warm and fuzzy… i am wiser now compared a couple years back. i personally think people (like the bastards and bitches in my yahoo list) should be thinking like me, then it would be a better place. we’d all be living unpretentious lives - in harmony - kissing, hugging and laughing with one another… hehe kiss-kiss-kiss-hug-hug-hug-bigKiss-bigKiss-bigKiss-hug-hug-hug…

well, you just ate up 10 minutes of my life.

Oh goodie! Paris Hilton will be releasing her first music album soon with “Stars are blind” as her first single. She said she had to overcome shyness to become a singer. But I say she isn’t shy at all. Have you seen her sex videos? I thought she really did a good Job there! hehe! ;)

James Blunt songs banned

A radio station in the UK banned “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover” because they got fed up with it.

The first time I heard the song “You’re Beautiful”, I thought a female artist sang it. Then I saw the video and it was a guy. It gave me the creeps. *shurgs*

I have been listening to Pearl Jam non-stop at work for the past two days now. Danilo, my officemate, said I should check out DigitaldreamdoorDOTcom. There, I found a list: Greatest Grundge and Alternative.

Here is their list for the 10 Greatest Albums:

1. Nevermind (Nirvana)
2. Superunknown (Soundgarden)
3. Ten (Pearl Jam)
4. Temple of the Dog (Temple of the Dog)
5. Dirt (Alice in Chains)
6. Mirror Ball (Neil Young)
7. Superfuzz Bigmuff (Mudhoney)
8. Stardog Champion (Mother Love Bone)
9. Dry as a Bone/Rehab Doll (Green River)
10. Deep Six (Various Artists)

Pearl Jam made it to number three! :D I dunno where they get their stats, but I agree with them — in one way or another.

Pearl Jam video release under Creative Commons License

I am a huge fan of Pearl Jam. Something about Pearl Jam and Creative Commons is definitely news for me. They have just released Life Wasted under the Creative Commons License.
Life Wasted is the first music video to be directed by mixed-media visual artist Fernando Apodaca. In depicting a world both fragile and transitory, Apodaca used life casts of the musicians (transformed and animated through projection techniques) combined with traditional modes of sculpture in bronze, wax and leather.

I haven’t been listening to SomaFM lately — ChronixAggression got into me. A few minutes ago, I went to SomaFM to retreive their playlists then I found Space Station Soma. Mid-tempo electronica, very cool ambient tunes. Just what I need to get into the mood to design something. Music like these extracts all the “creative juices” in my head. Two thumbs up to SomaFM for putting up SSS. :D

99-cent downloads shows Apple’s strength over music studios

Apple Computer still reigns the digital music world.

When the Cupertino company confirmed this week that songs at its iTunes Music Store will remain 99 cents each, it showed that Apple continues to set the terms in the digital download market it pioneered just three years ago.

As CD sales have continued to decline, Apple’s digital music sales and its iPod music player have been a standout success story. Music industry executives have meanwhile clamored for more control over prices — just as popular CDs cost more, executives have asked for the freedom to charge a premium for hit songs.

Apple’s answer: No.

No further details on the negotiations, which were confirmed late Monday, were available. Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, would only say Tuesday that Apple had renewed its agreements with the major music companies.

“We’re pleased to continue offering iTunes customers music at 99 cents per song from a library of over 3 million songs,” she said.

He writes:

last april 5 to 7 i went home to our province and made some recordings on me and my spanish guitar using my creative muvo. its just me playing impromptu with whatever i can think of, later i decided to name them according to how they sounded. i uploaded them in my multiply account, the address is http://steelwater.multiply.com/music/item/22 or click here

the tracks are as follows (in alphabetical order) with a breif description of each track.

1. blues jam - 3:32secs of blues music, but its just me playing no other instrument or another guitar

2. fun - 7:48secs of music thats mostly major chord progressions sounding like some country sountrack, like the music you hear when you are just sitting and lazing around on a hot summery day under the tree and theres a breeze and everything is just making you feel relaxed and drowsy Read the rest of this entry »
