I know Band of Brothers ended in HBO a few years back, but back then I didn’t have the time to watch every episode. A few days back, I bought the DVD. started watching it since saturday (today is monday) and I got hooked ever since (hehe 3 days, not a lot for everyone, but it feels like 3 weeks to me)… i have always loved good war movies - and i think this one is one of the best… and for goodness sakes, this war flick even has tiny-bitty sex scene - and for once, it was not rape. its kinda wierd…

i think im in the last 3 episodes now. the war is almost over (i think it is) but the men of Easy company will be fighting a different war within themselves. it is so sad how the brave men break down after seeing two of his friends get torn up by artillery. that part really got through me…

From Aladdin(yup, Disney’s Aladdin) to The Da Vinci Code, here is a list of the most controversial films ever made. I haven’t seen almost all of them, which makes the list pretty much insignificant for me. But maybe you other fellows might find this interesting.

X-Men: The Last Stand and The Da Vinci Code

This week was busy so I decided to reward myself by watching two movies; X-Men: The Last Stand and The Da Vinci Code.

X-Men
For X-Men, I went to SM City (Cebu). I forgot how much the tickets were but I brought along my two brothers with me (we paid about 350+ pesos). Movies like these are better to watch when you have people who listen to you when you brag about how well you know the characters; in this film, the mutants. I literally spent my childhood watching X-Men (not Evolution, but the original one) and collecting Marvel Cards. Having all the mutants from the X-Men cartoons would be insane but they certainly did a good job at selecting which mutant to put in the movie. And an even better job at putting them into life.

Jean Grey was sooo hot and Wolverine was so cool. Kitty was kinda cute too.

X-Men was probably the most entertaining movie I saw this summer. Tons of action and special effects.

The Da Vinci Code: Why R-18?
Now, the Da Vinci Code. Overrated. Hehe! But it was okay. Good movie. Not the best on its genre, but it was okay. I’m wondering why MTCRB (the movie-rating thingy here in the Philippines) placed an R-18 rating on it. I was like “WTF?” why they made that R-18 after watching it. This government (Philippines) has some major issues that it has to deal with.

I would have it GP! At least it would be something like telling the kids the difference between fiction and fact. How will they able to learn if you don’t expose them to the elements? After all, it is not porn.

By they way, Ayala theaters have the best sorround sound here in Cebu! So if you have your favorite movie showing, I suggest that you watch it there. I could feel the seats vibrate when the music goes up. Very immersing!

This is Elephant’s Dream. It’s an open-source movie project that has been going on for about a year. The production team made everything they used in the movie publicly available- from the models they used to the sound effects. They also have a DVD for sale.

Not only would the movie be made using Open Source software, but the contents themselves were to be Open as well: all of the digital assets and production files are released under a Creative Commons license, allowing everyone to see how the movie was made, make changes to it and create a new, derived movie. This will be an invaluable archive not only for the Blender community, but for the 3D community in general.

Da Vinci Code is R-18 in the Philippines

The Da Vinci Code is officially for adults-only in the Philippines. Why? — I don’t know.

Somewhere in the middle, this forsaken country is confused between the division of the Church and the State.

At least I am old enough to watch it. I’m not expecting anything from this movie. It is overly rated. Everytime I log in the internet, I see news about The Da Vinci Code. And when I turn on National Geographic Channel — The Da Vinci Code. Geez.

In the US, it is rated PG-13. I personally think that teens should watch this film. After all it is not porn. And i think kids these days have already enough porn in the internet hehe! It would be a good learning experience for them.

The MTRCB gave the movie an R-18 rating because the “thematic, verbal and visual content of this fictionalized drama-thriller, from an over-all perspective, requires mature discernment.” Sunstar

Review: Ice Age2: The Meltdown

I just saw Ice Age 2 a couple days ago, it was good. I had a few laughs. That preshistoric squirrel-thingy is after his acorn again. You should watch it with your kids.
Ice Age 2: The MeltdownThe Ice Age is coming to an end, and the animals are delighting in the melting paradise that is their new world. Manny, Sid, and Diego quickly learn that the warming climate has one major drawback: a huge glacial dam is about to break, threatening the entire valley. The only chance of survival lies at the other end of the valley. So the three heroes, along with a mammoth named Ellie and her two “brothers”
